Built from an undying desire for dynamic textiles and being able to creative collaborate remotely with partners that can not always be in the same space.

Soft Sketch is a handmade, flexible, wearable, lo-fi screen that receives an image from a HTML form sent to the textile via a microcontroller.
Corresponding pixels, heating elements and conductive fabric, are turned on and turned off embedded under a layer of thermochromic ink, blooming into existence.

Bio

Lara Grant is a fashion and textile designer, pattern maker, costume fabricator, seamstress and a teacher. She also builds alternative controllers using soft circuitry and e-textile design and is currently working with Final Frontier Designs redesigning and fabricating pressure garments for spacesuits and spacesuit gloves.

She got her BFA in Fashion and Textile Design in San Francisco at the Academy of Art University and has an MPS from NYU in Interactive Telecommunications with a focus in Wearable Technology.
